Tottenham transfer news: Jan Vertonghen confirms he won’t sign new deal with Ajax
Tottenham target Jan Vertonghen has said that he won't sign a new contract with Ajax and is determined to move to England.
The centre half's current deal expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with a host of clubs throughout Europe, with Tottenham said to be leading the race for his signature.
"I am still under contract until June 2013, but I do not intend to extend it," he told Vak410.nl.
"I hope to continue my career at a good Premier League club where I can stay for many seasons.
"I will miss Ajax and I do not plan to sell my house [in Amsterdam]. But I want to get to know England and the unique atmosphere of its stadia."
Vertonghen has been at Ajax since 2003 and has 36 Belgium caps.
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
