Europa League Group J: Line-ups (6pm)
Tottenham have made three changes from the side that beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford at the weekend as they turn their attention to the Europa League against Panathinaikos in Athens tonight.
French number one keeper Hugo Lloris will make his second appearance for Spurs after keeping a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at home to Lazio in their Europa League opener last month.
Also returning to the side is Michael Dawson, who is handed the captain’s armband, while Tom Huddlestone also starts. Brad Friedel, William Gallas and Sandro make way.
Former Arsenal forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, who once had a trial for Tottenham, was named in the Panathinaikos starting XI, but ex-Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong missed out through injury.
Tottenham team: Lloris, Walker, Dawson (c), Caulker, Vertonghen, Huddlestone, Dembele, Dempsey, Lennon, Bale Defoe.
Subs: Cudicini, Gallas, Sandro, Townsend, Falque, Mason Sigurdsson
Tottenham’s Andros Townsend says he has learned valuable lessons during his stellar loan spell with QPR – and he is keen to impress Spurs’ coaches again today when he faces Liverpool at Anfield.
