Tim Sherwood says Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen have both returned to training and could be available to face Manchester City later this month.
Kaboul has struggled with injuries for the last 18 months and has made just nine appearances this season, with his last showing coming on November 24 in the 6-0 defeat at the Etihad.
Meanwhile, Vertonghen limped out of the 2-1 victory at Fulham on December 4 with an ankle problem and has missed the last 10 games.
However, Sherwood is hoping the defensive duo will be fit when Spurs host Manuel Pellegrini’s Citizens at White Hart Lane on Wednesday January 29.
“They are not in contention for this Sunday [away at Swansea] but they’re back in training and they’re moving along nicely,” said the head coach. “We have a break after this weekend so they should be in contention for that Man City game.
“Quite a lot will be in contention for the weekend. We’re happy with the numbers we have got and the strength of the squad going into this game on Sunday.
“Sandro and [Andros] Townsend are both training so they will certainly be in contention.”
