Tottenham star Clint Dempsey is looking forward to seeing his friend Brad Guzan in goal for Aston Villa, but still wants to score past him.
The pair face each other on Sunday with the north Londoners wanting to bounce back from their disappointment against Panathinaikos.
“It’s good to see Brad get more starts and more minutes,” Dempsey said.
“He did really well when he was in the MLS and in the past few seasons he’s had to be the back-up.
“Now he’s trying to break through and hopefully he can because he’s a goalkeeper with real quality, he’s learned under Brad Friedel and I wish him the best.”
However, the friendship will be put on hold on Sunday.
“It doesn’t matter who I play, I’d like to score past them. It could be my Mum and I’d want to score!” he added.
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
