Christian Eriksen is relishing the prospect of his first north London derby this weekend as Spurs prepare to face Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup.
The Danish midfielder signed for Tottenham on August 30 but was not included in the squad that travelled up the Seven Sisters Road to face the Gunners for the Premier League clash on September 1.
Arsene Wenger’s side won 1-0 that day after a solitary strike from Olivier Giroud and, four months on, Tottenham and Arsenal are about to lock horns again after being paired together in the FA Cup for the first time since 2001.
Eriksen is looking forward to going head to head with Tottenham’s great rivals – and he is keen to progress beyond the third round in the world-famous competition.
“Now I’ve learned a little bit more [about this game],” he said. “I know the derby and the feelings, and everybody wants to win even more if they play Arsenal so hopefully it’s going to be a good game.
“I watched both the Premier League and the FA Cup when I was growing up – they’re big tournaments and of course there’s a lot of prestige in both.
“It’s another fun game for us. We just have to play freely and not be afraid because we know we can get beaten but also, if we just do our thing, we can have a good chance.”
