Andre Villas-Boas says he hopes to blood some of Tottenham’s young talents in the Europa League if his side can secure early qualification from their group.
Spurs currently have a perfect record in Group K, having won all three of their fixtures without conceding a goal, leaving them five points clear at the top of the table.
The Lilywhites host Moldovan outfit FC Sheriff at White Hart Lane on Thursday and a home win would ensure a place in the knock-out stages with two games to spare.
In that scenario, Villas-Boas would be keen to give the club’s young prospects some experience – particularly 18-year-old midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who was on the bench for last Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie against Hull.
“Would we look to play some of the young players? There is that possibility, yes, and if we ensure qualification, first place, we will probably do that,” said Villas-Boas.
“I don’t want to step too far ahead, because we need to push the boys for that deserved start, but as soon as we achieve it we can look at it as an opportunity to throw them in to a senior game.
“Nabil, definitely, is training so well that he is always in contention to break in to the team.”
