Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker moved closer to a first team return from injury after coming through a full 90 minutes for the reserves, but it is thought he will not be rushed back.
Last season’s player of the year has not featured at all this term after picking up an Achilles injury while on duty for England in Euro 2012. He went under the knife in August but the 32-year-old played a full game for Spurs’ second string in a 5-1 home defeat to Ipswich.
Villas-Boas said: “We have players coming back to fitness and Scott can be so important for us. He was player of the season last year and we expect him to be one of our main strengths.
“He hasn’t lost his abilities. Now we have resumed light training with him, he has been absolutely amazing.”
