France goalkeeper Mickael Landreau believes that Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris will force his way past Brad Friedel and claim the number one jersey.
The 25-year-old completed his move to White Hart Lane from Lyon on transfer deadline day but has been kept out of the Premier League XI by the impressive 41-year-old American.
But this does not concern Lloris’ compatriot, who believes the stopper’s debut in the Europa League will be the start of big things.
“In the short term, I can understand the debate, but I do not find it particularly worrying for Hugo,” Landreau told RTL.
“It will evolve. Already there is the Europa League - so it does not mean he does not play. The Europa League games are quite interesting.
“He continues to play for France, and he was outstanding in the last two matches. His Europa League involvement may just be the start for him.”
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
