Arsene Wenger has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Arsenal with a January swoop for Barcelona striker David Villa.
The 31-year-old, who holds Spain’s all-time scoring record, has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks as he struggles to nail down a starting spot in the Spanish giants’ line up.
The Gunners have been tipped to move for Villa, but Wenger says he cannot give away any names as he prepares for the January transfer window.
“Any interest we have in any players has to be kept secret at the moment,” said the Frenchman when pressed on his alleged interest in Villa.
He added: “I cannot come out with any names.”
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
