Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher admits he feels sorry for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and had hoped that they’d end their trophy drought in the Capital One Cup before they lost to Bradford.
But the Reds man believes that the French manager needs a trophy to silence the growing frustration in north London.
“Wenger has come in for significant criticism this year but he has been too good for Arsenal for it all to end under a cloud,” Carragher wrote in the Daily Mail.
“I was one of the few neutrals who wanted Arsenal to win at Bradford in the League Cup last month.
“I’ve got so much respect for Wenger and I haven’t enjoyed seeing the flak he has taken, particularly the amount that followed the defeat at Valley Parade.”
