Chelsea new boy Marko Marin has backed his side to keep Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski quiet when they clash at the Emirates on Saturday.
Marin, who made his Chelsea debut in last night’s 6-0 Capital One Cup thrashing of Wolves, has played alongside Arsenal’s Podolski in the German national team.
While Marin has been hampered by injuries following his £7million summer switch from Werder Bremen, former Cologne man Podolski has netted three goals in six games for the Gunners.
But the Chelsea man thinks Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic will make things difficult for Podolski in Saturday’s clash at the Emirates.
“I know Lukas from the national team and at the beginning it was all new to him but now he is doing well and has scored a few goals,” Marin said.
“But we have a very good defence and Branislav [Ivanovic] will do very well at right-back.
“It will be hard for Lukas to play against him.
“Of course I am very confident [Chelsea can keep him quiet].
“I know Branislav very well, he is one of the best defenders in the Premier League. I am not scared about this.”
