Jack Wilshere made his long-awaited return from injury this afternoon as he played just over an hour for Arsenal’s U21 side against West Brom.
The 20-year-old had not featured for the Gunners’ for 14 months due to persistent foot and ankle problems.
Wilshere started in an advanced midfield role for the Gunners at the Hawthorns, showing flashes of his quality before being withdrawn in the 63rd minute.
The England international was substituted to a standing ovation.
Arsenal boss Wenger insists he will be cautious with the youngster’s return to first team action, but today’s comeback represents a big step forward.
