Transfer news: Juventus look set to win the race for Spain striker Fernando Llorente after Athletic Bilbao revealed the Serie A side have opened talks with the 27-year-old.
Llorente, whose contract expires in the summer, had been linked with a host of Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea.
But it now appears he will join Juventus on a Bosman transfer at the end of the season after Athletic Bilbao released a statement regarding the striker’s future on their website.
The statement read: “Juventus football club reported on January 3, 2013 to us that with Fernando Llorente’s contract expiring on June 30, 2013, they have begun negotiations for the player to join their club.”
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
