Arsene Wenger has moved to end a speculation of a falling out with France boss Didier Deschamps after both coaches voiced their opinions of Abou Diaby this week.

The Arsenal chief suggested that the midfielder, who will be out of action for three weeks with a thigh injury after limping off in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last week, should not have been selected for his national side for last month’s World Cup qualifiers.

The 26-year-old spent much of last season on the sidelines and, despite returning at the start of the current campaign, to spearhead a seven-game unbeaten start, the Gunners manager thought it was too early for his charge to join up with the French squad for games against Finland and Belarus.

Deschamps then hit back saying that only he will decide who to pick and play for Les Bleus.

Asked today what his relationship was like with the former Marseille coach, Wenger said: “Very good.

“I have no problem. What people don’t understand is that you can give your opinion about something. That is just your opinion. It doesn’t mean that you have a problem with any person.

“It was not even my opinion, it was the opinion of my medical staff that Diaby will have problems to cope with the two at the moment, because when you’ve been out for a year, you’ve been out for a year.”

Wenger was also forced to deny suggestions by Czech Republic coach Vladimir Smicer that he could try to persuade Tomas Rosicky to end his international career, as the 31-year-old is has yet to play for the Gunners this term and is still three weeks away from full training with a hamstring injury.
