Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky have recovered from illness and are in contention to feature for Arsenal against Newcastle on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The pair missed last week’s 1-0 win at Wigan but their return gives the Gunners a boost ahead of the visit of Alan Pardew’s side.
“We should not have any new injuries from our last game,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.
“Giroud and Rosicky should be available again. They were sick at Wigan.”
The Frenchman revealed more good news for Arsenal concerning longer-term absentees Abou Diaby and Andre Santos.
“They should be coming back into training with the squad next week,” he said.
He continued: “It is unusual, especially at this period of the season [to have so few injuries].
“It is down to the continuing good work we are doing behind the scenes at the club.
“We hope that it continues because it is important to go into January with a full squad and we will be losing Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations.”
