Andrey Arshavin singled Alan Dzagoev out for praise after the 4-1 win over Czech Republic
Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has hailed team-mate Alan Dzagoev after he scored twice in Russia’s 4-1 win over Czech Republic.
The CSKA Moscow star opened the scoring for his country and also grabbed their third goal of the evening as the 2008 semi finalists started their campaign well against the 1996 runners up.
“Dzagoev’s a good lad,” Arshavin said. “He’s a mature player and he himself knows how well he played.
“Of course, 2-1 is a dangerous score. If we’d let in one more, it would have been tough but we slowed everything down and Dzagoev scored again.”
Arsenal forwardTheo Walcott has made no secret of his desire to the lead the attack as he had done to great effect earlier in the campaign.
