Transfer news: Arsenal, Chelsea and QPR are set to be disappointed in their pursuit for Demba Ba after the Newcastle forward announced he would like to play for boyhood heroes Paris St Germain.
The trio of London clubs plus Liverpool have all been linked with moves for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window as the Senagalese striker has a £7million release clause in his contract.
Ba, however, only has eyes for the rich Ligue 1 side he supported as a child growing up in the Sevres district of the French capital.
“I look at PSG as a fan, as a supporter,” he told French radio station RMC Sport.
“I have never concealed my attraction to the club as a fan, which I have been since I was little.
“Now they [PSG] are doing big and important things, and have big plans for the future,’ he added.
“Of course I’d like to play in the colours of a team I support.”
QPR boss Harry Redknapp last week said he had not put a bid in for the Magpies striker, while Chelsea are monitoring the situation, but Ba appears cool on interest from the Gunners.
“Arsenal is a club that has not won the title for a long time, but it is true that this is a club that attracts every footballer,” he said. “But as I said and repeated, these are the people who talk in the newspapers because for the moment, between me and Arsenal, there is not much.
“That means I’m in my club at the moment and the day I have to leave, I will analyse the situation. If it’s better for me to stay, I will stay. And if it’s better for me to go, I will.
“After that, it is better to go somewhere where there are a lot of French, because it fits much more easily. But for now, it is not in the program.”
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
