Arsene Wenger insists he remains optimistic of tying Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool target Theo Walcott down to a new contract.
Walcott’s current deal expires next summer and he has so far refused to pen a new deal, but Wenger is confident about keeping the forward, who has played in his favoured position of striker in the Gunners’ last two games.
“Yes [talks are ongoing],” said Wenger
“Yes [I remain optimistic].”
Walcott is Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 11 goals in all competitions, but a host of Premier League clubs are reportedly keen on luring him away from the Emirates.
Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that he would prefer a move to Borussia Dortmund over Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
