Graffiti drawn on the side of a train as an apparent tribute to the late Only Fools and Horse star Roger Lloyd-Pack, who died at his home in London last week, brought a smile to passengers’ faces when it was spotted this morning.

The street art, showing the name Trigger, the character played by 69-year-old Lloyd-Pack in the popular BBC sitcom, dominated the side of a Southern train carriage, while the show’s logo was adapted to say “Rest in Peace”.

Architect Andrew Paulson, who posted a picture of the mural on his Twitter feed, said: “I don’t condone graffiti, but had to smile at this one at Tonbridge station today.”

Southern said the train had been taken out of service and that the graffiti was being removed.

Stella Morris, Southern’s head of revenue protection and security, said: “Whilst the sentiment may be welcomed by some, this is criminal damage which is being investigated by British Transport Police.”

Lloyd-Pack had pancreatic cancer and died at home in London last week surrounded by his family.
