A Shakespeare themed puppet show with ventriloquist Nina Conti, a play that lets the audience decide the outcome, and a new exhibition made using the sounds of Camden are just some of the things in our top five this week.

Monday - Nina Conti

Ventriloquist Nina Conti, star of TV’s Live at the Apollo, QI and Family Tree, introduces her daughter, her handyman, her grandmother, her oldest friend and a stray dog in a show that “refuses to go as rehearsed”. Dolly Mixtures is a meditation on love, life and the edge of existence. Based on Shakespeare’s Seven Ages of Man, Conti’s puppets represent each stage of life. At the Tricycle Theatre, Kilburn High Road.

Thursday - Sounds of Camden

Bridge-Links is a sound installation created by Esther Ainsworth for the Camden New Wave Festival (2013) and commissioned by the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

Over 50 days, field recordings were collected at locations along and around the Regent’s Canal, from Primrose Hill to Kings Cross. The local community were invited to help create the work by contributing their own sound recordings of the area.

The final composition uses a series of parameters and loops set in generative software to create gestures, patterns and rhythms. Held at Cecil Sharp House in Regent’s Park Road. Free exhibition. No booking required. Open 9.30am to 6pm.

Wednesday - Power Games

Blending physical theatre with contemporary South Asian dance, a new show by theatre group Altered Skin explores the forces that shape our destiny.

Power Games follows Deepak, a wealthy banker whose life is spiralling out of control.

The audience are invited to influence the outcome of his story by voting in a TV-style game show.

The ensemble is led by dancer, actor and choreographer Shane Shambhu.

At Jacksons Lane arts centre, Archway Road, Highgate, at 8pm.

Saturday - Camden Symphony Orchestra

Camden Symphony Orchestra holds its first concert of 2014 at St Cyprian’s Church in Glentworth Street, Marylebone.

One of London’s leading non-professional orchestras, the group welcomes back violinist Fenella Humphreys to perform Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No 1.

It will open with Czech composer Bedrich Smetana’s Vltava, while the second half features Leos Janacek’s overture Jealousy and Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No 6.

Starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £10 (£8 concs).

Wednesday - Learn to tweet

Learn how to keep up to date with technology and stay connected with family and friends at a workshop run by South Hampstead High School students.

Sessions will show participants how to Tweet, text, Skype, take a picture on Instagram or set up a Facebook account. There will also be lessons on how to use a range of gadgets, including laptops, iPads and iPhones.

The weekly workshops are at JW3 in Finchley Road at 4.30pm. Booking at jw3.org.uk.
