A school for children with learning disabilities has won two international awards for its work with schools in other countries.
The Swiss Cottage School Development and Research Centre, Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage, received a £5,000 prize after being named the best special school for international work.
Staff and pupils collected the award at a ceremony in Canary Wharf last week, where they were presented with a cheque.
In a double scoop, the school has also won an International Schools Award, which recognises “outstanding work in international education”.
The centre is partnered with schools in Ghana, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sweden and was praised for its international links by the British Council, who awarded the two prizes.
Teachers at the school hope its overseas connections will help their students gain an understanding of other cultures.
The news coincided with the school’s celebration of Universal Children’s Day, where pupils designed and made postcards to send to students at the centre’s partner schools.
