The Ham&High has helped organise a one-off night to create awareness of the plight of jailed Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe followed by a Q&A session with her husband Richard.

It is almost two years since Nazanin was seized at Tehran airport on April 3 2016 with daughter Gabriella, then 22 months old, as they returned from a family holiday.

While Nazanin was put in solitary confinement, Gabriella had her passport confiscated and is now living in Tehran with her grandparents.

Accountant Richard, of Fortune Green Road, has been tirelessly campaigning for Nazanin to be released after she was given a five-year arbitary jail sentence for plotting against the Iranian state without a fair trial.

She is now serving the second year of this sentence in Tehran’s notorious Evin jail.

Director and actress Emi Howell has written the moving play Looking for Mummy - Nazanin’s Story, and taken it on tour around the country to raise support and awareness of Nazanin’s situation.

This special performance, hosted by the Ham&High, will be staged at JW3, in Finchley Road, on Saturday March 17 at 8:30pm.

After the performance, Richard will talk more about Nazanin’s desperate plight inside the prison where she has been subjected to solitary confinement and mental torture and his fears for her physical and mental health.

The audience will have an opportunity to ask him firsthand about his battle with and frustration at the British government’s lack of action and the upset caused by foreign secretary Boris Johnson.

The play was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival, where it won rave reviews.

A review in The Independent said: “This play has the audience on the edge of their seats with an electrifying portrayal of Nazanin-Zaghari Ratcliffe’s ongoing struggle.”

Howell uses Richard’s own words from his blogs and conversations with Nazanin to tell the harrowing story and intercuts this with news footage, including of the Hampstead march to Downing Street calling for Nazanin’s release in December 2016,

Join us for this special night event to help keep Nazanin’s name at the top of the political agenda until she is free again.
