Sue Rubenstein, who joined Whittington Health - the trust that runs the hospital in Magdala Avenue, Archway - in April 2011, is stepping down as a non-executive director and chair of the hospital’s Quality Committee.

News of her departure comes little more than a week after the shock announcement that the chief executive of the hospital, Dr Yi Mien Koh, would be stepping down at the end of the month.

Ms Rubenstein revealed to the hospital’s bosses that she would be leaving because of “increasing work commitments and the challenges of balancing the demands of my role at Whittington Health with those of my business”.

She is a director and co-founder of consultancy firm Foresight Partnership and for the past three-and-a-half years has served as a non-executive director on Haringey Teaching Primary Care Trust.

Shirley Franklin, from the Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition, claimed the recent departures were a sign that “all was not well at the Whittington. Board members seem to be going like flies,” she said. “I hope it’s not a sinking ship.’’

they’re leaving because that would be very worrying.”
