Hampstead School in Westbere Road, has been named as a winner of this year’s British Council’s International School Award.

The accolade is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner institutes overseas.

Hampstead School’s international work has included some students corresponding with students from other countries for their learning in languages and art, and many others learning about sustainable living, poetry, different sports and about flora and fauna in other countries amongst other work.

The school also celebrates its linguistic and cultural diversity though a well-attended yearly international festival.

John Rolfe, from the British Council, said: “The school’s fantastic international work has rightfully earned it this prestigious award.

“Adding an international dimension to children’s education ensures that they are truly global citizens and helps prepare them for successful future careers in an increasingly global economy.”
