A team of 10 runners raised £3,000 for a special needs charity in a 10km race through London.

The fundraisers joined more than 12,000 runners competing in the Bupa London 10,000 race on Sunday to support Jewish special needs charity Kisharon.

They lined up at the start line alongside top British internationals Andy Vernon and Gemma Steel, who won the men’s and women’s races respectively.

Software developer Jonathan Samuel, whose 10-year-old son Micah attends Kisharon Day School in Finchley Road, Golders Green, was one of the 10 Kisharon runners who tackled the course, running from The Mall to the City and back to St James’s Park.

He said: “I wanted to raise money for the school because I think it is wonderful. Micah has been at Kisharon Day School for just over a year and I like the way the school tailors the education to its pupils.

“It was a big change for him but he has settled in well with a small group of children where he can have friends who are his peers.”
