Primrose Hill to get its own marmalade-loving Paddington Bear

Breathtaking views from Primrose Hill could soon be enjoyed by a 3ft 6ins marmalade-loving Peruvian bear.
PR bods recently lodged an application with Camden Council to erect a 1.5m steel plinth-raised statue of Paddington Bear atop the hill to promote Paddington, a film about the iconic children’s character released later this year.
The statue would be erected on October 23 and would stay for nearly 10 weeks.
It is part of The Paddington Trail, a joint project between StudioCanal, tourist board VisitLondon and the NSPCC, which will see 50 Paddington Bear statues placed in museums, parks, shops and landmarks across London for people to see around the capital.
The NSPCC will be one of the beneficiaries when the statues are auctioned off later this year.
It reminds Heathman of the plans to build a giant replica of Rio De Janeiro’s Christ The Redeemer status on Primrose Hill in 2012.
Plans for the 30ft statue were eventually pulled by organisers so we’ll have to wait and see if Paddington makes it to the summit.
