Residents wanting to stand for a seat in next month’s Haringey Council elections are being reminded to apply now.
Polling day in Haringey is Thursday, May 22, with all 57 seats in 19 wards across the council up for election, along with the London Region constituency in the European Parliament.
Prospective candidates must return their nominations form, including the signatures of 10 registered voters from their ward, to the council’s electoral registration office at Haringey Civic Centre by 4pm on Thursday, April 24.
Returning officer Nick Walkley, chief executive of the council, said: “Whether you want to stand as part of a political party or as an independent candidate, it’s important you return your nomination pack in good time.
“Time is also running out to register to vote, and I’d urge residents planning to be away on election day to consider now whether they need to apply for a postal or a proxy vote.”
Nomination packs can be collected from the Civic Centre during weekday working hours, calling 020 8489 1000 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
For the European elections, forms are available from the regional returning officer at Lewisham Council and must be returned to 5th floor, Laurence House, Catford, by 4pm on Thursday, April 24.
