Camden Liberal Democrats are bidding to topple Labour’s control of the council with victory in Kilburn in May’s council elections.

Cllr Keith Moffitt, leader of Camden Lib Dems, said the party’s number one target was to oust Kilburn’s three Labour candidates to leave Labour without an overall majority on the council.

He said: “We know it’s important for us to take seats off Labour and we think Kilburn is a good bet. We have got two previous councillors from Kilburn.

“We are aiming for a clean sweep. Labour only need to lose control of one ward for it to be a hung council. That demonstrates it’s on quite a fine balance.”

In the 2010 elections, all three seats in Kilburn swung from the Liberal Democrats to Labour.

This year, Janet Grauberg and James King, who both lost their seats in 2010, will be standing for the Lib Dems in Kilburn, alongside new candidate Jack Holroyde.
