Police are treating the fire which partially destroyed a Hornsey pub yesterday as arson.
A ground floor bar area of The Nightingale pub, at the corner of Nightingale Lane and Brook Road, was wrecked in the blaze at around 2.15am.
Four fire engines and about 20 firefighters attended and brought the blaze under control by 3.35am.
A Haringey Police spokesman said the cause of the fire is still being investigated, but said it is being treated as arson.
The pub was disused and had been home to squatters until they were evicted on Friday, according to residents.
No-one was in the building at the time of the fire and thirty per cent of the ground floor was damaged.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information should call the police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
