Islington and Camden police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing 86-year-old man who skipped a dose of insulin.

Benjamin Sullivan was last seen by his wife at their West Hampstead home at 10.30am this morning.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said the disappearance is “very out of character”.

He added: “Benjamin is suffering from dementia and rarely leaves the house without his wife, he is very unsteady on his feet and has only taken one of his two walking sticks with him.”

Benjamin who has a pacemaker is reliant on insulin to control his type two diabetes.

But he is believed to have missed a dose which was due at midday.

Benjamin is Mauritian, 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build and is said to have “a large stomach”.

He is bald, clean shaven, wears glasses and walks slowly using a dark wooden walking stick.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a dark navy raincoat, and a blue cap.

Officers are increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and would urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police on 101 or Missing People on 116000.
