Mary Stroman, the 16-year-old daughter of trombonist and singer Scott Stroman, was remembered as a “bright, clever and funny” teenager by her family after her death at a foot crossing on January 15.

Her family released a statement paying tribute to the Stroud Green teenager, who had briefly been a student at St Marylebone School in Westminster four years ago.

They said: “To all her friends and people who knew her, please remember Mary as a bright, clever and funny girl who was gentle and kind to everyone.

“Mary is now at peace with herself and it was an honour to have her as a daughter and sister.”

Mary was hit by a train at a foot crossing near Trowbridge in Wiltshire.

A British Transport Police spokesman said they are not aware of any link between Mary and fellow former St Marylebone pupil Tullalah Wilson, apart from the girls having been at school at the same time for two months four years ago.

Kathryn Pugh, headteacher of St Marylebone School, said: “Mary was loved here and has friends here. We absolutely offer all our sympathy and prayers and thoughts to the family.”
