Police and paramedics were called to the incident outside Swiss Cottage Tube station, at the junction between Finchley Road southbound and Avenue Road, shortly after 7pm where they found the pedestrian suffering from a head injury and hip pain.

An ambulance crew took the man, who was breathing and conscious, as a priority to the major trauma centre at St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington.

Police put up a large cordon around the site of the incident, as well as a black people carrier, and closed the junction between Finchley Road northbound and Avenue Road.

The cordon was removed and the junction re-opened shortly after 9pm.
