Jimmy Carr ‘victim of tax avoidance jibes’ from builders at Swiss Cottage school

Comedian Jimmy Carr is currently injecting laughter into auditoriums up and down the country with his latest stand-up tour Gagging Order.
This run of gigs is a marathon which will keep Carr on the road until next October.
With all this to look forward to, it is no wonder the 40-year-old took offence when a group of builders interrupted some much-cherished down time at his Swiss Cottage home.
Living near the Swiss Cottage School and Development & Research Centre, Carr will have undoubtedly endured his fair share of noise from what has been, up until its completion last month, a multi-million pound building site.
But despite the construction, cranes and all, it is the vocal chords of a burly set of builders that really ruffled feathers.
Last week, the Ham&High heard news of another gagging order – this one courtesy of Carr’s partner.
It is understood Carr’s girlfriend complained to bosses at the school not long ago after construction workers, adding the final touches to the new building, were heard screaming towards the comedian’s home: “Jimmy, pay your taxes!”
All of this, of course, relates to this summer’s K2 tax debacle involving Carr.
The 8 Out 10 Cats host was forced to issue an apology for a “terrible error of judgement” in June after it was discovered he had been channelling cash through the Jersey-based K2 scheme to lower tax payments.
Although the scheme was not illegal, Carr came under heavy criticism, with prime minister David Cameron labelling his activities “straightforward tax avoidance” and “morally wrong” – a judgement on morality quite clearly shared by the offending builders.
