The illustrator of the latest Jeeves and Wooster books has showed his life’s work at Highgate Library.

Paul Cox, 56, of Highgate, spoke to around 40 people at the library in Chester Road last Thursday about his progression as an artist, from birth until today.

He said his greatest inspiration was his father, the late architect Oliver Cox, who lived all his life in Grove Terrace, Dartmouth Park and was a great supporter of the library. After showing the audience slides of his work and books that contain his illustrations, Mr Cox took questions about his illustrative career and the arts industry.

As well as illustrating Jeeves and Wooster, Mr Cox has also worked for the Folio Society and held a number of exhibitions.

“It was fascinating and very well-received,” said Linda Lefevre, treasurer of the Friends of Highgate Library.

“He’s travelled the world.”
