The Oscar winner and West Hampstead resident has signed a Pigs4Kids piggy bank which has been decorated by a pupil from Swiss Cottage School Development and Research Centre, in Avenue Road, and will be auctioned off in the New Year.

Ms Thompson joins a roster of famous faces supporting Pigs4Kids, including fellow Hollywood star Kevin Spacey, actress Niamh Cusack and education secretary Michael Gove.

Katherine Harvey, director of development at Friends of Swiss Cottage School, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that she’s come on board to support a local charity that obviously means a lot to her.

“It’s a lovely end to the year and we’re looking forward to the time when we can auction the pig and a lucky member of the public will be able to have one.”

The Ham&High is asking readers to raise £60,000 for the Pigs4Kids campaign to support the new school’s development and research centre.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Ellie Petch, who works in the 02 Centre in Finchley Road, raised £202 for Pigs4Kids by completing a 5km charity run dressed as Santa in Victoria Park.
