Haverstock School pupils unite with elderly to perform play about refugees

Themes of immigration and deportation in Camden were explored in a play performed by teenagers and elderly people during National Refugee Week.

Pupils aged 15 at Haverstock School in Haverstock Hill, Chalk Farm, joined with older residents to act in the play, Out of Luck, on Wednesday last week.

It was written by vice-chairman of governors Jim Mulligan in aid of the school’s charity project BuildOn, which this month sent a group of students to Senegal to build a primary school. The one night only performance coincided with National Refugee Week.

Mr Mulligan said: “The strength of this production comes from the Havarole Players who, though they are only 15, are already experienced actors.”
