Max Tenenbaum, 30, was on holiday in the island resort with his younger brother Jason when he died at the weekend.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said:“We are in touch with the local authorities and are providing consular assistance to the family.”

Mr Tenenbaum was a pupil of Christ’s College Finchley secondary school and graduated from Leeds University with a degree in computing in 2007.

Friends and relatives paid tribute to the project manager, who worked for e-commerce company Paraspar in Edgware, on social networking site Facebook.

Former classmate Farzard Peyman-Shah said: “Unbelievably sad. Known him since primary school and always been a top mate when we were younger.

“Never a bad word to say about him and don’t know anyone who ever did. RIP Max.”

Mr Tenenbaum’s cousin said: “I just wish you could come back cuz :( you were the most amazing guy ever, I will pray every night for you. I miss you. RIP Max Tenenbaum.”
