Hundreds of Camden teenagers have gone back to school this summer - but lessons are far from what they usually study in class.

Youngsters, aged 13 to 19, can learn how to go-kart, canoe, make films, design comics and become an expert in women’s self-defence at Camden Summer University until August 29.

There are more than 90 courses for teens to choose from at venues across the borough, including Hampstead Heath, Highgate Newtown Community Centre, Maitland Park Sports Centre, JW3 Jewish community centre, and Swiss Cottage Indoor Centre.

Cllr Georgia Gould, Camden Council’s cabinet member for young people, said: “This year’s summer university programme is a great example of what makes Camden so special. The courses are creative, challenging and inspiring and, as well as being fun, they also provide considerable practical benefits that will last well beyond the summer break.”
