Acland Burghley School is not improving quickly enough, Ofsted has warned.

Inspectors last week urged the Tufnell Park secondary school to take immediate action to control behaviour and for “casual” teachers to have more pride in their “personal presentation” following a monitoring visit in February.

In October it was downgraded from “good” to “requires improvement” – one place above the lowest rating.

Meanwhile, staff at Torriano Infants School in Kentish Town said they were deeply disappointed that their school was downgraded from “outstanding” to “requires improvement”, dropping two rungs on Ofsted’s scoring system, following its latest inspection.

In a report published last week, inspectors told the school it needs to improve the quality of its teaching.

Headteacher Gillian Robson is on indefinite sick leave, but in a letter to the Ham&High, the governing body said it would use the criticism as a “catalyst for change”.
