A 200-year-old Hampstead pub has dropped plans to offer brunch on Sundays after objections from neighbours.

The Holly Bush in Holly Mount, which is Grade II listed, was seeking permission to open at 10am instead of 12noon on Sundays.

It also wanted to remove some restrictions on its Good Friday and Christmas Day opening hours.

However, following objections from residents, the pub has withdrawn an application to change the licence.

In a letter to Camden Council, Alastair Munro, a tax advisor who lives two doors from the pub, said the proposal would have caused noise nuisance at “the only times when we get any respite from noise from the Holly Bush pub”.

Another resident, Ruth Blair, said the changes could have made life “intolerable for all residents”.

A spokesman for Fuller’s Brewery, which owns the pub, said: “We were looking to open for brunch, but we had some feedback from neighbours that this was not what they wanted, so the application was withdrawn.”
