Hundreds flooded the streets outside Camden Town Hall yesterday to catch a glimpse of Labour leadership contender Jeremy Corbyn speaking at a rally.

The Islington North MP spoke at a free rally which packed the Camden Centre in the town hall, in Judd Street, King’s Cross, to capacity last night.

Before heading inside the Camden Centre, Mr Corbyn climbed atop a fire engine outside the town hall to address throngs of supporters unable to make it into the rally.

Mr Corbyn was joined at the rally by former London mayor Ken Livingstone and Guardian columnist Owen Jones who spoke in support of the 66-year-old’s leadership bid.

The Labour veteran has surged ahead in the race to become the Labour Party’s next leader, now tipped as the surprised favourite.

The leadership battle is due to conclude on September 12.
