A violent robber from Queen’s Park who throttled two women from behind before snatching their valuables has been jailed for nine years today.

Junior Cooper, 35, of Bruckner Street, carried out three brutal robberies on women in Westminster, Kentish Town and St John’s Wood last year.

Southwark Crown Court heard he first struck on November 15 when he carried out two robberies, with two other men, 30 minutes apart.

His first victim was throttled from behind until she could not defend herself before they stole her expensive ear-rings.

They tried to snatch her Rolex watch and handbag but she resisted and they fled without them when a passerby intervened.

At around 11pm, thirty minutes from the first attack, a woman was grabbed by the throat in St John’s Wood and had her handbag snatched.

The third victim was sitting in her car in Kentish Town when she was grabbed by Copper and two other men, dragged out of the vehicle and had her handbag stolen.

In a connected attack carried out on December 10, Remy McLeod, 19, and three other men ripped the earrings out of the ears of a woman in St John’s Wood and stole her Rolex watch.

Her stolen jewellery is worth £50,000.

Detectives from Westminster Crime Squad set up Operation Ronay to target the suspects and quickly established a link with Cooper and McLeod who shared gang connections.

A stolen Audi used by Cooper in the robberies was traced and led to his arrest in January.

McLeod was held three days later.

Cooper was found guilty last month of conspiracy to rob three women.

McLeod was convicted of conspiracy to rob and will be sentenced on 8 September.

A third man was acquitted in court and the case against a fourth suspect was discontinued.
