A train passenger has recovered her £800 iPad after tracking software on the device was activated when it was stolen at St Pancras station.

A 29-year-old woman from Earls Court discovered the tablet computer had been stolen after she arrived from Paris on the Eurostar on February 18.

But police managed to trace the iPad to an address in Bromley-by-Bow after activating the app locating software on the tablet.

A 27-year-old man and 29-year-old man were arrested by British Transport Police (BTP) on February 19.

They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Pc Michael Richman, of BTP, said: “Thanks to the victim activating the tracking app, officers were able to recover the iPad and arrest two men in connection with the theft.

“These applications, available on many smartphones and tablets, can help owners protect their belongings and can also be very useful in helping us narrow down an item’s location, increasing the chance that a potential thief will be caught.”

The tracking app, called Find My iPhone or iPad, is available for download.
