A Kentish Town woman who helped two of the killers of a Westminster teenager evade arrest has been jailed for nine months.

Donjeta Gashi, 21, of Carrol Close, paid for accommodation at the Full Moon Backpacker hotel in Bristol for two of the men later found guilty of Hani Hicham Abou El Kheir’s murder.

Hani, who was just 16, had been walking with his girlfriend through Pimlico in January last year when he was set upon by a gang of thugs armed with meat cleavers and knives, among other things.

The schoolboy was taken to hospital with severe stab wounds to his head, arms, legs and torso, where he later died of his injuries.

Gashi later paid for two of his attackers to stay in the hostel after they fled London.

She was found guilty of perverting the course of justice in relation to paying for accommodation in January, and sentenced on Friday.

Det Ch Insp Neil Attewell, of the homicide and major crime command, said he was “pleased” Gashi had been handed a custodial sentence, adding: “I hope that the sentence serves as a warning to others that no matter how small the part you play in an offence we will do all that we can to bring you efore the courts.”

+ The Metropolitan Police Service is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of others believed to be involved in Hani’s murder. Anyone with any information is asked to call 020 8345 3715 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
