A former judge has appeared in court accused of breaching a restraining order by sending threatening text messages to his ex-wife.

Lincoln Crawford OBE allegedly sent “numerous” texts “of a threatening, abusive and insulting nature” to Bronwen Jenkins, with whom he has two children, between February and July.

The barrister, who has worked as a judge, is accused of harassment in breach of a restraining order imposed in 2006.

He is also said to have broken the order by contacting Ms Jenkins by email and letter.

Crawford denied the charge at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 66-year-old, of Harley Road, Primrose Hill, will next appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on December 3.

An application he has made to discharge the restraining order was adjourned until December 17 at Highbury Corner.
