A 63-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after being battered across the head with a rock in Hampstead.

The victim was set upon by a male suspect near her home in the Vale of Health. Police were called to the scene at 10.10am on Friday (November 2) and combed Hampstead Heath for the suspect, but he escaped.

Paramedics treated the 63-year-old at the scene before rushing her to the Royal Free Hospital for treatment. She was later released.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Camden Police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
