A senior Haringey councillor has appeared in court for the second time charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, who held the cabinet portfolio for environment until she was charged earlier this month, stood in the dock for a brief hearing at Wood Green Crown Court this morning.
She did not enter a plea, speaking only to confirm her name, and Judge James Patrick granted her unconditional bail until a plea and case management hearing at the same court on October 23.
No further details of the indictment against Cllr Canver, who remains a serving councillor for St Ann’s ward, were discussed in court.
Cllr Canver, a former cabinet member for police and community safety, has been suspended by the Labour Party.
