The family of a Highgate man who plunged to his death at Archway Bridge are preparing a legal battle.

Jonathan Culverwell-Landsberg, 33, who had schizophrenia, fell from the bridge over Archway Road in June last year and died instantly.

At the conclusion of an inquest into his death on Monday his family said they are extremely angry at the care he received from Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.

Their chief concern is that his consultant psychiatrist was not aware of a social media post from 2012 in which Mr Culverwell-Landsberg said he was going to kill himself at the bridge and so did not consider him to be a high suicide risk.

It has spurred them to challenge the verdict recorded on Monday that Mr Culverwell-Landsberg, who lived with his mother in North Hill, took his own life.

His sister Tasharna Averill, 26, a secretary of North Hill, said: “We’re going to look into why this information was just ignored. He did have suicidal thoughts but it wasn’t taken into consideration.”

A spokesman for the mental health trust said: “The trust would like to reiterate our condolences to the family of Mr Culverwell-Landsberg.

“We have fully co-operated with the inquest and would be pleased to speak with the family if there is any aspect of the care and treatment that they would like to discuss.”
