Foster carers who have selflessly dedicated their lives to raising children have been honoured at an awards ceremony.

Carole Petch received a gong for being one of the longest serving foster carers in Camden, having fostered children for 27 years.

She was one of nine to get an award at a ceremony held at the town hall on Friday as part of the national awareness campaign Foster Care Fortnight.

John and Moira Doneo, who were both made MBEs for their foster work, were honoured for 50 years of fostering children.

Bollywood dancer Honey Kalaria, who presented the awards with Martin Pratt, Camden Council’s director of children schools and families, said: “These people really do go above and beyond to give vulnerable children and young people a safe and secure home, which can make such a difference to their lives.”
