TWO Camden companies are in with a chance of winning £5 million, having reached the regional finals of a major business prize.

One of them is the nation's favourite charity fundraising website, Justgiving, which since being set up in 2001 has seen a phenomenal growth in popularity.

The other is FreshMinds, a recruitment and research consultancy founded in 2000 by university graduates Caroline Plumb and Charlie Osmond.

They are competing against three other companies in the Entrepreneur Challenge in the hope of winning a £5 million funding package.

In true Dragon's Den style, they will face a grilling from a panel of judges, including two well-known and successful entrepreneurs. Nick Wheeler from Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts and Bill Muirhead from M&C Saatchi will be joined on the panel by senior representatives from Bank of Scotland Corporate, which has organised the competition, and Deloitte.

They will quiz the finalists on their future business plans and look for someone with an entrepreneurial flair and spirit who stands out from the crowd.

"Both companies have impressed in making it to the London regional final and will want to claim that £5 million prize," said David Rawlance, Bank of Scotland Corporate director.

"With two such impressive sets of entrepreneurs representing the business community in the London regional final, Camden borough has certainly made its mark on this year's challenge."

Judging is taking place today and the winner will progress to the national final in December.
